The Glass Castle

So I LOVE to read...yet rarely have the time to just sit down and enjoy a good book. Well today I got a chance and I LOVED "The Glass Castle" by Jeannette Walls. It was so good, aside from the fact at how deep down sad the story really is.
If you are thinking how bad your family life sucks at the moment, I suggest you read this book (not that my family life is bad). It will make you realize how bad some people really have it.
I am so glad that the author had the guts to write her story, as it is a wretching tale of a childhood disaster.
I think that her family would make a fabulous Psych Case Study.
It is truly amazing how some people can survive from such a screwy past and even more amazing how parents raise their children.
My heart ached for Jeannette, Brian, Maureen and Lori. I wished so much that their parents would get their "shit" together. Too bad that they weren't taken away when social services came to the door, at least then they wouldn't have had to scrounge for food. Poor things.
How can you just cut your parents out of your life, even when they are sucking your soul dry? This book just shows, that no matter how bad you have it, family is everything.
I wish all of children well in the many years of therapy that will follow them throughout the rest of their lives.
